The Nemetschek Group has made a strategic investment in Handoff – a fast-growing U.S. based platform using AI to automate operations for contractors.

Founded in 2019, Handoff helps remodelers and small construction businesses streamline estimating, proposals, client management, and invoicing. With over 10,000 monthly active users and $6 billion in annualized project volume, Handoff has quickly become a go-to solution for contractors seeking greater efficiency and transparency.

Easy to adopt

The platform leverages real-time pricing data from top suppliers to automate back-office tasks and deliver accurate project estimates instantly. Its intuitive design requires no complex setup, making it easy to adopt.

“Our mission is to put real-time construction data and smart AI agents in the hands of contractors,” said Dmitry Alexin, founder and CEO of Handoff. “Partnering with Nemetschek validates our vision and will help us scale faster, reach more builders, and improve how homes are built.”

This investment supports Nemetschek’s broader venture strategy to accelerate innovation and digital transformation across the construction sector—particularly for small and medium-sized businesses.

Better features

Tanja Kufner, head of startups & venture investments at Nemetschek Group said, “Handoff is bringing powerful AI to a segment long underserved by traditional software. We’re excited to support their growth and advance digital efficiency in residential construction.” The funding will accelerate Handoff’s product development, expand platform features, and drive international growth.”

As India rapidly transforms into the world’s third-largest construction economy, Nemetschek Group also announced its aim to capture 15–20% of India’s growing AEC/O software market within the next 2–3 years in India, driven by a focused strategy around local innovation, academic partnerships, and ecosystem collaborations.

As part of its India-focused expansion, Nemetschek has entered into several high- impact academic collaborations aimed at embedding industry-relevant software skills in architecture and engineering education. Notable among them are tie-ups with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) in Lucknow, JJ College of Architecture in Mumbai, ICT Academy in Chennai, and Anna University, where the company is helping establish an AEC Centre of Excellence. These efforts are expected to collectively benefit more than 25,000 students annually, creating a strong pipeline of skilled talent for the construction technology sector.
