Window of opportunity
Having witnessed the presence of leading industry players under one roof, the last edition of the Fensterbau/Frontale India, International Exhibition & Conference on Window, Door and Façade Technology, concluded with much fanfare in New Delhi. With its success, the exhibition cemented its position as India’s only focused event for the facade and fenestration industry.
Over 80 companies, 68 domestic and 14 global, found the unique opportunity to present the whole spectrum of possibilities for key themes of energy efficiency, sustainability, automation and design in this niche segment.
Among the many trade visitors, 4,154 sourced information on the wide array of products and services for windows, doors and facades during this three-day exhibition.
Following the success of its preceding expo, the fifth edition is scheduled to take place in February 2015. This time, in Bengaluru – at Hall 1, Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC, parallel to ACREX India) from February 26-28. The venue, which is one of the finest exhibition and conference facilities in the country, will play host to an impressive number of participants from India and abroad.
This event is supported by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Glazing Society of India (GSI), Federation of Safety Glass (FOSG), Aluminium Extruders’ Council (ALEX), Confederation of Construction Products & Services (CCPS), uPVC Windows & Doors Manufacturers Association (uWDMA) and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
With the support of the aforementioned agencies, this upcoming international event is bound to witness the convergence of various associations, institutes and forums to highlight important industry concerns and provide a platform to discuss new technologies and solutions.
A key highlight is a special show: ‘Seeing is Believing’, planned in collaboration with Ift Rosenheim – one of the world’s leading window testing facilities. The show will highlight how to avoid small glitches that can affect the product quality of the whole window. Examples such as poor screws used to fix hardware or weak steel profile to reinforce PVC windows, will be discussed. Such glitches will be demonstrated by leading experts from Ift Rosenheim using a window-testing rig, especially imported from Germany just for this live demo. The intent is to inform local manufacturers and key decision makers on the best ways to manage, produce and install acceptable quality products. Ift Rosenheim experts will also provide detailed explanations on factors that influence the product quality of windows – such as construction principles, frames, glass, sealing, fixings and screws, hardware, among others.
Also part of the agenda is a series of panel discussions. These will feature some of India’s leading architects, who will debate over a variety of subjects such as the need to elevate windows and doors to the status of a lifestyle product. Other topical discourses will include architects’ consideration while deciding on the appropriate fenestration solution for several types of projects. This will cover the need for a country like India (where resources are limited) to focus on energy efficiency, since fenestration can play a crucial role in energy efficiency.
