Toshiba-JSW plant to begin Phase I by end-2011

Toshiba-JSW (of the OP Jindal group) has firmed up plans to begin Phase I of its Ennore-based Rs1,000 crore super-critical power equipment manufacturing plant by end-2011. Elaborating further Pramod Menon, the company’s CFO said that the plant would manufacture turbines of 3,000 Mw by end-2011, two super critical steam turbine generators in 2012 and four operational super STGs by 2014.
The JV partners, Toshiba Corporation and JSW Energy have planned to invest approximately Rs800 crore in the facility over the next five years, with Phase I accounting for nearly 80% of the amount. The plant which has been set up to manufacture supercritical power boilers, will also recruit approximately 500 personnel by 2014. Infrastructure support in the form of better roads from the Ennore Port to the plant, water and electricity will be provided by the state government.
