The future is here!

A month has flown by with the speed of lightning, and it seems like it was only yesterday that I pledged my allegiance to Architect & Interiors India… but then that’s what happens when your sights are set into the future: seeking out today’s news, trends, products and technology that will define tomorrow’s world of architecture and design. The comforting thought that keeps us going is that we are not alone in our quest to be the best, so that we can provide our readers with the ideas and information they need.

Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our team are seven wonders from the world of architecture and design – towering figures actually, who care enough to bend backwards to give of their precious time and even more valuable thoughts: Ashok Butala, proprietor, Atelier Architects & Interior Designers; Bijoy Mohan, managing director, Grohe India; Conrad Gonsalves, proprietor, Conrad Gonsalves & Associates; Karan Grover, proprietor, Karan Grover & Associates; Namita Singh, principal partner, Satnam Namita & Associates; Niranjan Hiranandani, managing director, Hiranandani Group of Companies; and Nitin Killawala, principal partner, Group Seven Architects & Planners.

We introduce them in our advisory board announcement on page 20, and look forward to a long and fruitful association with them.

Speaking about towering figures calls to mind the soaring structures that dwarf us in our cities. Newer, long-lasting and eco-friendly building materials are being discovered every day, but steel is finally seeing its day. Futuristic steel structures dot the urban landscape the world over, and India is joining in so fast and furious that we will probably soon “steel” the thunder. We discover the how and why of this phenomenon.

Between the covers you will also find a host of other fascinating features – on cooling trends that are green in nature as well as architecture and interior design that embraces tradition while forging ahead into the future. Welcome to tomorrow, and do write in with your comments.
