Tata Steel India sales jump 19% in July-Sept
Tata Steel Ltd, the world’s eighth-largest steel maker, has announced that sales from its domestic operations rose 19% in July-September from a year earlier to 1.46 mn tonnes.
Sales for the first half of the financial year that began in April rose 21% from a year ago to 2.88 million tonnes, the company said in a statement. The steel major’s domestic operations account for about a quarter of the group’s total annual global capacity of 30 million tonnes, which includes unit Corus, Europe’s second-largest steelmaker.
Sales of long products, used in construction also witnessed a jump of approximately 49% in April-September from a year earlier, the statement added.
