Surya Roshni to launch next generation ESLs
Surya Roshni Ltd has launched the production of next generation of ESLs (Energy Saving Lights) – the T5 tube light. The T5 tube light is technologically advanced to bring about increased saving by 85% in electricity consumption, resulting in saving of Rs600 on power bills per tube per year, the company claims.
The T5 ESL boasts of a life span of 15 years or 15,000 hours (15000 hours, based on 3.3 hours usage per day with electronic ballast). Surya has employed the Triband Phosphorous Fluorescent powder, from Japan that gives highest lumen (light) output for this product. It works at a voltage as low as 140 V and can withstand upto 280 V of voltage.
Surya Roshni currently commands a share of more than 25% the Indian market. The company clocked a turnover close to Rs.1750 crores for the year ended March 2009.
Apart from these, the company is setting up a spiral welded and steel pipe plant for oil and gas sector in Anjar taluk of Kutch district with an initial investment of Rs 200 crore and plans to invest another Rs 200 crore on its proposed expansion. The plant, being set up by Surya Global Steel Tubes Ltd, would have a capacity of two lakh tonnes per annum of spiral welded steel pipes and one lakh tonnes of Electric-Resistant Welding (ERW) pipes with projected turnover of Rs 2,000 crore annually, including 80 per cent of the products meant for exports.
