Schwing Stetter wins safety awards


Schwing Stetter India has received two State Safety awards from Tamil Nadu government in the engineering industry category. The company’s transit-mixer manufacturing unit, located at Irungattukottai near Chennai, bagged these awards for achieving the lowest accident rate and for successfully maintaining the longest accident-free man hours, in 2006.
The company’s Managing Director, Anand Sundaresan, said: “At Schwing Stetter, the health and safety of our employees is accorded top priority. It is our mission to ensure that every person who comes to work with us is protected from all possible hazards at the jobsite.” The awards are jointly presented by Department of Factories, which comes under the Ministry of Labour, and National Safely Council.
Schwing has also recently received a Six Sigma compliance certification, for all its key business processes, from Bangalore-based consultancy firm, Nathan and Nathan Consultants. It started the process of implementing Six Sigma initiatives in the year 2005.
