RPP Infra wins Rs100 cr SEZ project in Gabon


RPP Infra Projects Ltd has now entered the West African markets by winning a Rs100 crore (Rs one billion) project in Gabon. The Project is a development of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at KNOK in Gabon where in roads, hotel building and other works are all part of it. It also includes construction of six-lane access roads across the SEZ. As a part of the contract, RPP Infra has entered into a joint venture agreement with M/s Resurgent Gabon, a Gabon-based construction company having expertise and experience in executing civil and infrastructure projects in Gabon. The Gabon-based company would be extending their technical and local expertise to RPP Infra in executing the project.
“By bagging this project, our Order Book position has jumped to Rs 850 crore as on 31st January 2011,” said Arul Sundaram, Chairman and Managing Director of RPP Infra Projects. This is our first step in rapidly growing West African market and the joint venture would leverage RPP Infra’s SEZ development experience and expertise, he added.
RPP Infra would lay cost effective highly durable metal top roads using state of the art equipment. RPP Infra expects to complete this project in 12 months. “This is only our first step in Gabon; we expect more business from them in the future. There is huge potential for infrastructure development projects in Gabon. We are already in the stage of finalizing some of the infrastructure projects in Gabon,” Mr Sundaram pointed out.
RPP Infra has experience in executing similar SEZ Projects for ELCOT which would include Coimbatore, Madurai, Thirunelveli, Trichy and Hosur, and in Tamil Nadu. R.P.P Infra is also currently developing a township for NTPC at Ennore, Tamilnadu covering 30 acres, comprising of 900 housing units, Drinking & Waste Water management & Sanitation, Roads, armory and a swimming pool.
RPP Infra, primarily engaged in the business of infrastructure development, has executed over 200 civil construction projects across various segments of construction and infrastructure industry since its incorporation. Some of the large projects executed include general civil works for Power House Super Structure in Andhra Pradesh with contract value of Rs 237.25 million, creation of common infrastructure work such as road, culverts, drainage, compound wall, ornamental gates and gate pillars for Coimbatore IT SEZ having contract value of Rs 189.74 million.
RPP Infra has diversified its civil work expertise into SEZ Development, water management projects, irrigation and power projects. It is mainly doing business in the South Indian region covering Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Andaman Nicobar Islands. It has recently entered the Srilanka market and currently executing a project in the Railway sector.
