RICS calls for high standards

Having opened its Indian Chapter, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) aims to set high standards for the real estate and construction industry in the country. “We want to change the face of the industry by introducing international best practices,” Sachin Sandhir, MD & country head, RICS-India, told Construction Week India.

The key objectives of RICS in India include offering RICS membership, set global benchmarks, work in public interest and advise the government on policies. “We are in touch with all industry associations and will also be working with educational institutions for developing relevant curriculum for current as well as future industry professionals,” Sandhir said.

Sandhir expressed optimism with regards to the current industry scenario. “The situation will certainly improve in about 8-12 months as the fundamentals of Indian economy are very strong,” he said. “However, the industry must retrospect and take corrective measures during this time,” he added.
