Railways revenue up 8.31% between April-Oct

The total approximate earnings of the Indian Railways between April-October this year were at Rs48322.23 crore as compared to Rs44614.15 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 8.31%. Total earning from freight have gone up from Rs30197.30 crore to Rs32452.79 crore during this period reflecting a growth of 7.47%.
The total passenger revenue earnings during the first seven months of the financial year 2009-10 were Rs13626.74 crore compared to Rs12575.06 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 8.36%. Revenue earnings from sources amounted to Rs1317.72 crore during April-October 2009 compared to Rs1127.54 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 16.87%.
The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April-October 2009 were 4318.23 million compared to 4119.89 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.81%. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April-October 2009 were 2216.08 million and 2102.15 million compared to 2193.73 million and 1926.16 million during the same period last year, an increase of 1.02% and 9.14% respectively.
