Maire has announced that its subsidiary Tecnimont has won a contract from Sonatrach through a tendering process. The contract involves The EPCC (engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning) work to be carried out for a new linear alkyl benzene (LAB) plant in the industrial zone of Skikda, located 350 km east of Algeri.
LAB is a cost-effective and biodegradable intermediate used in the production of household detergents, industrial cleaners and surfactants.
The contract value is approximately $1.1 billion. The project’s scope involves establishing a new LAB plant with a production capacity of 100,000 tons per year, along with the necessary utilities, offsites, and connections to the existing facilities. The project is slated for completion within 44 months from the effective date of the contract.
