The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has entered into an agreement worth Rs 300 crore ($40 million) with Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) to build a flyover aimed at easing traffic and improving cargo movement to and from the Vizag Port. The move is part of an ongoing effort to enhance infrastructure and boost port productivity.
A new 3.3 km flyover, including two and three-lane sections with widths of seven and 10.5 meters respectively, is set to address traffic bottlenecks caused by 11 level crossings along the Seahorse Junction to dock area route. The initiative aims to improve connectivity for both road and rail traffic.
This infrastructure project is crucial for enhancing traffic management and speeding up cargo evacuation near the port and city.
