J Kumar Infraprojects has been declared the lowest bidder for the pre-engineered building (PEB) roof and architectural finishing contract at five stations of Mumbai Metro’s 23.6 km Line-2B (Yellow Line) connecting DN Nagar–BKC–Mandale. These five elevated stations are located at Diamond Nagar, Shivaji-Chowk, BSNL, Mankhurd and Mandale.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited bids for Package CA-158 in early January 2023 with an estimate of Rs 100.30 crore, wherein the technical bids were opened in February to reveal two bidders, J Kumar and Ahluwalia Contracts (India). J Kumar Infraprojects bid at Rs 99.29 crore to emerge as the lowest bidder.
The scope covers the fabrication and erection of PEB structural steel works along with execution of architectural finishing, plumbing works for five elevated stations of ML2B corridor Diamond Garden to Mandale of Mumbai Metro rail project of MMRDA. These five stations will be the first to open up on Line-2B, which is expected by Q2 2025.
Last month, Siemens–RVNL JV won Line-2B’s 25kV OHE electrification system contract.
MMRDA splits station civil work and PEB roof-work into two packages. The civil construction contract (Package CA-07) was awarded to NCC in April 2019, and the first set of U-girders was launched in January 2020.
