Maharashtra government has taken the decision to intervene and revive all stalled and abandoned redevelopment projects in Mumbai. The Chief Minister stated that numerous projects in the city have been stuck for decades, some of which have been abandoned by developers. To address this issue, the government will leverage the resources of cash-rich government agencies such as BMC, MMRDA, MHADA, MSRDC, and CIDCO to execute these projects.
The primary objective of this initiative is to benefit a large number of residents who have been eagerly waiting for access to their homes. Additionally, it aims to bring back those who have been forced to relocate to distant suburbs due to the prolonged delays in these projects. The successful implementation of this plan will serve as a blueprint for future schemes in the metropolitan region, extending to areas like Mira-Bhayender, Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, and parts of Navi Mumbai.
In the first phase, the government will construct 10,000 units on government-owned lands. This approach ensures that residents can directly move into their homes without the need for temporary transit camps. This proactive step by the Maharashtra government aims to provide long-awaited relief and a solution for residents affected by the stagnant redevelopment projects in Mumbai.
