Coal India (CIL) is setting up four large scale coal-to-chemical projects through surface coal gasification route.
Coal India has inked three agreements, one each with central PSUs, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Indian Oil Corporation and Gas Authority of India (GAIL).
The proposed surface coal gasification (SCG) projects will be set up in West Bengal, Odisha, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Coal India will invest around Rs 35,000 crore on these coal-to-chemical projects.
