Welspun Flooring launched its manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, Telangana. Having forayed into the flooring segment in 2018, this launch cements the organisation’s focus on diverse innovative products offerings. KT Rama Rao Garu, Honorable Minister of MA&UD, Industries and IT&C, Telangana, inaugurated the facility.

Set up with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore, the state-of-the-art facility is spread across 200 acres, employs close to 1600 members and has implemented strict safety and hygiene measures. Equipped with some of the finest machinery, it creates unique colour options, combinations and caters to any kind of shade requirement.

Additionally, with an aim to transform the future of flooring solutions in the country, the plant is equipped to manufacture wide variety of innovative products ranging from carpet tiles, greens (artificial grass) and broadloom carpets (wall-to-wall carpet) to the patented and technologically advanced product – the Click-N-Lock tiles. Post completion of all phases, the facility will have a production capacity of 40 million square metres annually.

Adjacent to this facility, Welspun Group is also establishing a manufacturing plant for its emerging business – advanced textiles. Garu laid the foundation stone for this unit, which will commence functioning soon. The company will invest Rs 400 crore over a span of two financial years.

BK Goenka, chairman, Welspun Group, said, “Over the years, Welspun has built a strong consumer trust though innovative product lines in the domestic as well as international markets. Our retail brands like Welspun & Spaces has gained high consumer acceptance and continues to drive our growth in the evolving domestic market. We are now entering another exciting phase of our growth with foray into the flooring segment.”

Mukesh Savlani, president & CEO, international business, Welspun Flooring, said, “In line with our aim to disrupt and transform both, the new homes and renovation segments, of the INR 350 billion Indian tiles market, we are delighted to launch our first state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. On the back of the facility’s advanced capabilities and infrastructure, we look forward to offering innovative solutions to our discerning consumers in India and globally.”

“With the introduction of stone polymer composite tiles and the use of industry-defining technology, we are confident of bringing about a paradigm shift in the consumer mindset when it comes to flooring. Our vast range of innovative products come with a promise of being assembled within a day’s time,” he added.

Backed by strong R&D and extensive consumer research, Welspun Flooring is a breakthrough in terms of engineering and design. The company offers holistic flooring solutions for architects, designers, retailers and customers, and aims to manufacture products for every industry – residential, hospitality and commercial. While India is a focus market, the company will also export to Europe, US, Australia and the Southeast Asian countries.

To ensure the complete safety and well-being of its people, especially against the current global scenario, Welspun Flooring has implemented the ‘Penta Protocol.’ Through Penta Protocol, the company has laid down industry defining practices, standards and procedures to be followed by all employees, associates, partners, customers and other stakeholders to protect themselves in the facility. It is a robust five-layered security framework consisting of social distancing guidelines, workplace practices, thermal scanning, sanitization and several other strict regulations to curb the spread of coronavirus. Welspun is amongst the first few companies to undertake virtual audit by a Big 4 firm for implementation of safety measures as per Penta Protocol in the factories.

Reinforcing its commitment to contribute towards sustainable development, Welspun Flooring has taken efforts to be a zero landfill company and has identified various processes for waste management. The facility is targeted to use 20% renewable energy by 2022 and 100% by 2030. It has signed a contract with SCS, USA for zero waste certification project, GHG study and carbon neutrality program. Additionally, the company has planted 5000 trees in the first phase and will plant 50,000 in next three years.
