Singareni Collieries to set up floating solar projects in Telangana

The Singareni Collieries Company is planning to set up 500 MW floating solar power panels on various water resources in the state of Telangana.

The company has initiated a study with the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation on the proposal. This is part of the state-owned coal mining company business expansion plan.

The Corporation had taken up feasibility study for erecting floating solar power plants on large water bodies.

With Singareni Collieries Company ready to undertake construction of the floating plants, discussions were held by the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation on whether everything would be at one place or in five phases of 100 MW each.

The focus is on opportunities available on water bodies located in Karimnagar, Warangal and other districts.

Thus far, Singareni Collieries Company has already set up solar power plants across 11 areas and looking for spreading to other areas.

Once the project proposals are ready,it will be submitted to the state government and after securing permissions for power purchase, the project will be taken up.
