WABAG signs ADB funded water supply project in Bhagalpur, Bihar

Contract worth Rs 278 cr signed with BUIDCO

VA TECH WABAG has signed a contract with Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation for improvement of water supply system in Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation, Bihar. The contract, worth Rs 278 crore was signed in the presence of top officials from BUIDCo and WABAG. The contract was won by WABAG in January 2020.

On completion, the project will be the largest water supply scheme of Bhagalpur and will be a lifeline to approximately 6 lakh people and will become a reliable and continuous source of clean and safe drinking water for the city.

As a reliable partner for building sustainable water infrastructure in the state of Bihar, WABAG is currently developing wastewater infrastructure (STPs, sewage pumping stations, sewerage network and household service connections) at various zones of Patna like Pahari, Karmalichak, Digha & Kankarbagh. On successful execution of the projects, WABAG will be responsible for managing thesewerage infrastructure in 4 out of the 6 zones of Patna and thus will ensure a cleaner and healthier ecosystem for the people of the city.

The scope includes design, build and operation of 141 MLD raw water intake works on River Ganga at Bhagalpur, a 90 MLD water treatment plant with proprietary plate settler technology and 29 km of clear water rising main. Post successful execution, WABAG will be operating and maintaining the plant for 10 years. The project is funded by Asian Development Bank.
