Work on infrastructure projects faces hurdle in Noida
There are 20 such ongoing projects
The work on 20 key infrastructure projects resumed in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on 6 May 2020.
However, the projects are facing hurdles due manpower shortage and unavailability of heavy machines due to the prolonged COVID-19 lockdown.
Among the key projects, work has commenced on 5.5 km long Chilla flyover that will connect Mayur Vihar in East Delhi directly to Noida-Greater Noida Expressway close to Mahamaya flyover and Sector 71 underpass.
These two projects will ease traffic congestion between Noida and Delhi and clear bottlenecks at the intersection connecting Vikas Marg and Vishwakarma Road near Sector 71 signal.
Prior to the lockdown came into effect, piling work was being undertaken near Mahamaya flyover. Work is not expected to pick up pace before 9 May 2020 since operators required to function piling boring machine are stuck in the national capital due to the sealing of Delhi-Noida border.
One boring machine is present at the site; however the second machine is yet to be transported from the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The borders of Gautam Budh Nagar are sealed and the State Bridge Corporation is coordinating with the authorities to make passes for the workers required to operate the two machines.
The opening of Noida City Centre to Parthala Chowk route via Vikas Marg of Sector 71 underpass will also take time. Besides Chilla flyover work maintenance, electrical and sewage line work have also commenced.
