The bridge will be five km long, with a breadth of around 30 mtr. The estimated cost of the project is pegged at Rs 1,501 crore.
The project is expected to be completed by September 2024. The bridge will be constructed parallel to the railway bridge on the creek.
Around three lakh commuters travelling towards Mumbai from Vasai and Bhayander and vice versa will benefit from the project, as travel time will reduce by around 10 km, thus saving fuel too.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority,It will have an exit point at Subhash Chandra Chowk at Bhayander, Contino Road on Naigaon side and Panju Island, where boats are the only option at present. It will act as an alternative to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.
