Prakash Tiwari appointed as director (operations) at NTPC

Prakash Tiwari has taken over the charge as director (operations), NTPC, with effect from 31st January 2018. Prior to elevation, he was ED (operations) and looked after all activities related to operation of NTPC power plants.

Tiwari is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from NIT Raipur. He joined NTPC as 6th batch Executive Trainee in 1981. He has an illustrious career spanning over 37 years of outstanding contribution in management of large size plants in the area of power plant operation & maintenance and in project construction as a Professional Manager, Strategic Planner and a Business Leader. He has led several initiatives for achieving operational excellence of Plants.

Tiwari’s experience in power sector includes more than 7 years at senior management level as a “Business Unit Head” of NTPC Stations i.e Unchahar, Korba and Solapur.

He is also part-time director on the Board of NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company Ltd. (NTECL) and Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (KBUNL).

He shall be responsible for overall planning for smooth & safe operation of all NTPC power generating stations of more than 51000 MW capacity and also for fuel security & environment compliance of all power plants.
