Planning commission clears dam project in Manipur


The planning commission has given investment clearance for “Dolaithabi Barrage Project (Medium Revised) Manipur”. The project is estimated to cost Rs360.05 crore (2011 Price Level). The project envisages construction of a barrage 78.75m long with six bays of 10m each to pass a design discharge of 2900 cumec and a head regulator on the left bank. It will help in annual irrigation of 7545 ha of land.

The project is expected to be completed in the financial year 2013-14. The plan accounts would be closed by 31st March 2014. The project may accordingly be executed as per the approved outlays in the state annual plans. “The state finance department would restrict the expenditure to the approved cost and no additional expenditure beyond approved cost may be permitted unless the revised estimate is approved following the prescribed procedure. In case of any further cost revision, the project shall be debarred from AIBP funding,” the commission said.
