NTPC to setup thermal power plant in Gujarat

NTPC will setup a 1320-MW coal based thermal power plant in Gujarat to meet the growing power requirement of the state. The proposed thermal power project will have two units of 660 MW Super Critical Technology, utilizing domestic coal blended with imported coal.

A meeting between government and company officials was recently held to review the modalities of the project. The Gujarat government has given its in-principle clearance to set up the project on the surplus land of existing Dhuvaran plant of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL).
NTPC is initiating the site specific studies for establishing the techno-economic feasibility of the project. The feasibility report of the project is likely to be ready by March, 2011.
