Mumbai to have Modern Market Terminal

The Ministry of Agriculture through Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board (MSAMB) is developing Rs.150-200 cr Terminal Market at Babgaon, Tal- Bhivandi, Dist – Thane on 125 Acres land out of which they have acquired 92 acres.

Estimated handling capacity of terminal market is 3000 MT. The commodities to be marketed by the Terminal Market will include all perishables, interalia, fruits, vegetables, flowers, aromatics, herbs, meat, poultry etc. Non perishables can also be handled in the Terminal Market.
The terminal market would operate on a Hub-and-Spoke Format wherein the Terminal Market (the hub) would be linked to a number of Collection Centres (the spokes) directly linked to the farmers with transparent pricing mechanism.
MSAMB has floated Global Tender Notice for setting up the market on a Build-Operate-Transfer (B.O.T) basis and the bid criteria was on the lowest subsidy grant announcement.
In the process MSAMB shortlisted five companies to submit their detailed offer out of which three companies viz. Trufab Engineers, Delhi – APMC, Navi Mumbai JV, Unity Infraprojects Limited – AP Mani JV, Mumbai and Deepak Fertilizers, Pune have succeeded to submit detailed offer. Only 2 bidder Deepak Fertilizers and Unity Infraprojects Limited– AP Mani JV were found eligible on technical evaluation and for opening of financial bids.
Unity Infraprojects Limited – AP Mani JV submitted bid of no grant required whereas Deepak Fertilizers bid stated Rs.45 cr as a grant. MSAMB is submitting their recommendation report to the central committee for their approval.
