L&T wins Rs1,610 cr order from Visa Power Ltd
Indian infrastructure major Larson & Toubro (L&T) has won a large order from Visa Power Ltd (VPL), a Visa Steel and Power Group company, for execution of Balance of Plant (BOP) package for 2X600 MW Power Plant being set up in Raigarh-Chhattisgarh. The Rs1610 crore-contract will be commissioned within 29-32 months.
Under this BOP contract, to be executed on EPC basis, L&T will design, engineer, supply, erect & commission complete Balance of Plant and also provide all associated services. The scope of work includes BTG & BOP civil, structural & architectural works; Coal and Ash handling plants, Chimney, Induced Draft Cooling Towers, Switchyard & BOP electrical, Ash pond & water reservoir etc. L&T is a leading supplier of several of these packages which are engineered & manufactured in-house.
The order from VISA Power Ltd. follows a recent order for Rs6,500 crore received last month from Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd. (JPVL), a Jaiprakash Group Power Company for 3×660 MW supercritical Boiler – Steam Turbine Generator Package Karchana power project.
The project was won following an International Competitive Bidding process involving several domestic BOP bidders. L&T’s well established strengths in design, engineering, project execution and construction, quality & safety standards and on-time delivery are vital contributors to its success in Power industry, the company said.
The company is currently executing similar sub-critical BOP contracts and several large supercritical EPC/BTG projects, as part of offerings for integrated EPC solutions. For the supercritical segment L&T has established joint venture companies with Mitsubishi Heavy Engineering for manufacture of supercritical Boilers & Turbines. In the super-critical segment, L&T has also set up manufacturing capabilities in Hazira for several crucial equipment & components including high pressure piping, coal pulverizers, ESPs and heavy forgings.
