L&T emerges largest EPC player in solar power
L&T Construction (part of the Larsen & Toubro conglomerate) has strengthened its place as the largest EPC player in the country’s solar power industry. Currently, it has cumulative orders for over 200 MW. The Company is approaching an installed capacity of 112 MW by April 2012. As an EPC solutions provider, the company’s track record covers over 10 projects across the past two years. Its biggest project commissioned is a 25 MW solar PV power plant at Charankha in Gujarat, using tier-1 crystalline PV technology. A 40 MW plant employing leading, high output generating thin film technology is under commissioning at Pokhran in Rajasthan. On commissioning, it will be one of India’s largest solar power plants.
Of the 66 MW of solar projects commissioned by the Company in Gujarat, L&T’s solar EPC business has commissioned India’s largest tracker based crystalline solar PV power plant. The 10 MW capacity plant located at Surendranagar district in Gujarat, adopts tier-1 crystalline PV modules and single axis trackers.
L&T’s capabilities include solar PV & CSP power project design, fixed & tracker structure manufacturing, fast and cost effective solar PV & CSP power plant construction, and ability to bring in local and foreign financial assistance for developers of utility scale solar power plants in India.
L&T expects to bag 200 MWs of solar projects in the next year on EPC basis, taking its cumulative tally of solar power experience to approximately 400 MWs by 2012-2013.
