L&T Construction wins Rs3,057 crore orders
L&T Construction, headed by SN Subrahmanyan, has won new orders worth Rs3057 crores across various business segments in the month of June 2013. The Building & Factories Business has secured orders worth Rs1,808 crore for the construction of an office space, residential building and a hospital from customers across the country.
The Water & Renewable Energy Business has bagged orders worth Rs628 crore that involve a major order from the Water Resource Department, Jharkhand for construction of the Kharkai barrage with gates and allied works. The scope of work involves civil, mechanical, and electrical systems. The company won another turnkey order from West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited for supply of equipment, material, erection and services for plant water systems of the Sagardighi Thermal Power extension project units 3 & 4 (2x500MW). L&T also received orders for various utility development works at Gurgaon from a private developer, including an additional order on operating projects.
In the Power Transmission & Distribution Business, orders worth Rs442 crore were awarded to L&T by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited for design verification, detailed engineering, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical and mechanical system. This includes fire and hydraulic system for underground stations of Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System project phase-3. This is in addition to new orders that L&T received in domestic and international markets for ongoing projects.
L&T’s Heavy Civil infrastructure and Metallurgical & Material Handling Businesses also received new orders worth Rs179 crore from various ongoing projects.
Hydrocarbon order worth Rs1,000 crore
Additionally, L&T’s Hydrocarbon division has secured an order of over Rs1,000 crore to construct a paraxylene plant for a leading refinery in India. The company signed a memorandum of understanding to execute composite construction works, including civil, mechanical and erection and installation, for the project.
L&T will mobilise about 25,000 workmen and 600 staff for the project which will be executed over a period of 30 months.
