JK Cements in expansion mode

JK Cements is likely to commission its grey cement plant at Bagalkot, north Karnataka within the next few months while simultaneously expanding operations to more locations. According to the company’s president for technical and management services MP Rawal, the company was exploring options to expand outside its home base, Rajasthan and had commenced prospecting for limestone in Orissa and Uttaranchal.
JK Cements has four units in Rajasthan, three of which are grey cement units, with an aggregate capacity of 5.2 mtpa while the upcoming greenfield unit in Karnataka has a capacity of 3.5 million mtpa. Rawal further added that the company had not been hit significantly by the economic slowdown and that prospecting for new raw material deposits was going on as usual.
