HCC launches Asia’s first IT firm for infra sector
In a very interesting development, Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has launched Highbar Technologies Ltd – an IT firm fully dedicated to the infrastructure sector. “This is the first of its kind company in Asia,” Ajit Gulabchand, Chairman & MD, HCC, told Construction Week on the sidelines of a summit in New Delhi recently. Construction Week also spoke with Satish Pendse, President of Highbar Technologies (and former CIO, HCC) on why HCC decided to transform its IT Services division into a full-fledged IT Organisation.
“The key objective is to provide more focused services to all our clients. They will now view us as an independent company rather than the IT division of another construction company. This will also give our existing as well as potential customers more confidence in us,” Mr Pendse said.
He added that Highbar Technologies as a fresh new brand will continue to leverage its experience with the construction industry and expertise in the IT sector. “The focus of the new company will be on the infrastructure sector as defined by the Planning Commission of India,” he said. This will obviously include segments like roads & highways, power plants, airports, seaports and so on.
