HCC awarded Rs660 crore Hydel Project by GMR
Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) has been awarded contract of 300MW (3X100) Alaknanda Hydroelectric Power Project by GMR (Badrinath) Hydro Power Generation Pvt. Ltd. The project is a run of the river development on river Alaknanda, at Badrinath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
The contract is awarded in two lots and is valued at Rs 660 crore. The first lot i.e. Lot-2 involves Main Civil Works Package for Coffer Dams, Diversion Channel, Barrage, Power Intake, Desanding System & Part HRT. The value of this contract is Rs 272.84 crore and will be completed in 52 months from the date of issue of notice to proceed. The second lot i.e. Lot-3 involves Main Civil Works Package for MAT, Powerhouse Complex, Surge Shaft, Pressure Shaft, Pothead Yard, TRT and
Part HRT. The value of this contract is Rs 387.16 crore and will be completed in 54 months from the date of issue of notice to proceed.
HCC has successfully constructed over 25% of India’s hydel power generation capacity, including several projects in the challenging Himalayan region. HCC has constructed the Head Race Tunnel & Surge Shaft for India’s largest commissioned power generation project, the Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric Project (1500MW), and the Underground Powerhouse & Tunnel for the Chamera Hydro Electric Power Project, Stage I. HCC is currently executing fourteen hydro-
electric power projects, including four in Jammu & Kashmir, three in Himachal Pradesh, two in Bhutan and one each in Uttarakhand, Sikkim, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra.
