Govt releases fund for rural roads
The Ministry of Rural Development has released grant in aid for construction of rural roads in Mizoram (Rs10 crore), Himachal Pradesh (Rs46 crore), Madhya Pradesh (Rs124.45 crore), Haryana (Rs36 crore) and Tamil Nadu (Rs22.81 crore). The aid has been issued from the special window created in NABARD under RIDF for rural roads to be executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
PMGSY is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in the rural areas of the country. PMGSY envisages connectivity to all habitations with a population of 500 persons and above in the rural areas and about 250 persons and above in respect of the hilly states, tribal areas and desert areas through good and all weather roads.
