Govt approves coastline management project

The Ministry of Environment and Forests has approved a project on the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) which will be undertaken with the assistance from the World Bank. The project includes hazard line mapping along the coastal areas; institutional strengthening and capacity building in the areas of coastal management; and initiating pilot ICZM projects in the States of Gujarat, Orissa, and West Bengal.
The total cost of the project is Rs1155.63 crore which will have 77.7% contribution from World Bank; 15.4% from Indian government and 6.9% from Gujarat, Orissa and West Bengal.
