Mahindra celebrates National Road Safety Week 2020

Participation from over 550+ dealer workshops across India

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), part of the USD 20.7 billion Mahindra Group, is celebrating ‘National Road Safety Week’ in association with SIAM-SAFE and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), across the country, starting January 11, 2020. The theme for National Road Safety Week 2020 is – Sadak Suraksha – Jeevan Raksha. Mahindra is participating in this initiative to drive awareness about the importance of road safety.

With increasing incidents of road rage, accidents and unsafe driving practices, it is imperative to educate people on road safety. In fact road safety is expected to improve dramatically when every component of the system including the vehicle, road infrastructure, traffic engineering, driver training and road etiquette, enforcement, education and awareness, as well as the laws that govern the road system, have safety embedded into them as an inherent virtue.

Under the aegis of the National Road Safety Week, the company has undertaken various activities such as, a road safety awareness campaign for dealer staff, a driver education program through dealer workshops, creating awareness among school children through a drawing competition. In addition, the company is also creating awareness drives through tie ups with local RTOs and rallies by school children.

Commenting on the Road Safety campaign, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. said, “As responsible corporate citizens, we at Mahindra are committed to making India’s roads safer. Today, most accidents are caused due to driver negligence and improper road etiquette. It is our responsibility to educate people about road safety. Through the activities at various touch points, we are trying to educate the drivers of today and tomorrow, helping them to imbibe the values of road safety from a young age.”

The campaign saw participation from over 550+ Mahindra dealer workshops across India who engaged at various levels to make the Road Safety campaign a success.
