Essar Steel to open office in Dusseldorf

Essar Steel will open an office in Dusseldorf, Germany, on January 1, 2010. This announcement was made during the visit of Mr Dirk Elbers, Lord Mayor, City of Dusseldorf, along with his team, to Essar’s corporate office in Mumbai.
The decision to set up this office is in line with Essar Steel’s philosophy of being closer to the customer to provide world-class service, and will give the company access to the quality conscious European Union market.
Welcoming the move, the Lord Mayor said, “I am really delighted that Essar Steel will open its European head office in Düsseldorf on New Year’s Day. This underlines the outstanding position of Düsseldorf as a centrally situated business location in Europe. Düsseldorf offers a unique mix of first-rate infrastructure, ideal transport and air traffic connections, outstanding economic power, unique innovation capability, and internationality.”
Mr Elbers added, “We are here to promote the importance of Düsseldorf as a base in Europe. Therefore, I am personally pleased to see that this initiative has already brought about the first concrete results. The City of Düsseldorf has closely worked with Essar Steel on location scouting over the last year, and will continue to strongly support the Group’s further development in Düsseldorf.”
Formally announcing the office opening, Mr Malay Mukherjee, CEO, Essar Steel, said, “Essar has been serving the EU market for over a decade. With this office in Dusseldorf, one of the steel and automobile hubs of Europe, we look forward to growing in this key market.”
The Dusseldorf office will augment Essar’s existing sales and marketing network in USA, UAE, China, Indonesia and Thailand.
