Delhi Metro awards third contract to HCC
HCC has secured its third contract worth Rs373 crore from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The latest contract is for design and construction of 2.2 km twin tunnel between Shalimar Baug and Netaji Subhash Place stations on the Mukundpur- Yamuna Vihar corridor, under Phase III of the Delhi Metro.
The contract is to be executed within a period of 36 months and the scope of work includes design & construction of twin tunnel by shield TBM; twin box tunnel (cut & cover tunnel); underground ramp; architectural finishing of Shalimar Baug (underground station ) and Netaji Subhash Place (semi-underground).
This is the third contract being awarded to HCC by DMRC. The company has constructed package C1 and C6 of the Airport Express line, a complex underground route as part of its earlier contracts. Package C1 included a 2.2 km long twin bored tunnel and a 1.3km cut and cover tunnel through the VIP areas of the national capital while package C6 involved 2.6 km long NATM tunnel. The route alignment for this Metro line passed below various heritage structures and buildings of national importance. The tunneling depth below the Rajiv Chowk Metro station at 44m was the deepest ever for the Delhi Metropolitan Region, going below two existing lines.
HCC was also instrumental in completing the 4142 m long Delhi metro section from North of Vishwa Vidyalaya Station (inclusive) to South end of ISBT Station (inclusive) of the metro corridor by cut and cover method.
