China no threat but opportunity, says B2B player

MEP

Chinese manufacturers catering to the electrical and hardware segments should be looked upon as an opportunity according to Bill Janerie, GM (Middle East), Global Sources, a B2B company.

Janerie told Construction Week India that since Indian suppliers cannot meet the burgeoning demand on their own, sourcing from Chinese players could be an important option in India.

“Chinese players can produce a range of products and with the boom in the Indian construction sector, I see this as a perfect match,” she said.

Janerie, who was in India for a trade fair organised by his company, also pointed out that despite the shakeout due to the financial crisis, market demand remained positively high.

With regards to the quality concern, he expressed his confidence in the ability of the Chinese firms to deliver as per requirement.

“The buyer determines the quality,” he said implying that it was up to the customer to demand the kind of quality needed.
