CGWB, GSI sign MoU to share geo-scientific data

In an effort to facilitate geo-scientific data sharing, Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has signed an MoU with the Geological Survey of India (GSI).

The main objective of MoU is to cooperate and facilitate sharing of geo-scientific data available with both the organisations for sustainable development of ground water resources; to integrate and synthesise the scientific database; training and capacity building of personnel of both organisations and to take up pilot projects in the field of sub-surface Geology and Hydrology for ground water development.
The MoU was signed between BM Jha, Chairman, CGWB and N Dutta, Director General, GSI, in the presence of UN Panjiar, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources; Shanta Sheela Nair, Secretary, Ministry of Mines.
It would be highly beneficial to integrate the scientific data base available with both the organisations from users’ point of view. The results of joint studies in the frontier areas of ground water will lead to better understanding of ground water problems and its mitigation in the country.
