CFI workshop on handling construction equipment
The Construction Federation of India (CFI) in collaboration with the US-based Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is organizing a Workshop on “Safety, Maintenance & Cost Issues in handling of Construction Equipments” on February 10, 2011 at Mumbai.
The basic objective of the workshop is to deliberate and exchange the expertise and views of the global construction companies with its Indian counterparts mainly towards: –
A. Safety: Safety in Installation, Commissioning, and Trial run Stage of P&M, Operation & Maintenance Phase, Handling, and Transportation Phase etc.
– Role of insurance companies in enforcing stricter discipline in Safety?
– How Training for Engineers and Workers can help in improving our Safety Performance. What is being done in the US?How are the Equipment Manufacturer’s involved in enhancing performance levels through Training?
B. Maintenance: Site Organisation and Repair Facilities at Site and extent of Major Maintenance/ Overhaul done at site. How is Spare Inventories minimized to reduce Working Capital without affecting the downtime of Machines? What is the Best / Standard US practice amongst US Contractors regarding provisioning of Spares.
C. Costs: Availability / Utilization / Productivity including, Capital Cost, cost of Spares, reducing the cost and increasing efficiency of POL (Fuel & Lubricants).
The Workshop will coincide with the bcIndia (BAUMA – CONEXPO), a major International Trade Fair being organized by AEM and BAUMA between 8th – 11th February 2011 at Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai, for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles. A tentative programme is enclosed for your kind information.
Eminent speakers from Indian Construction industry as well as members of AEM will address the workshop. We also propose to arrange for on-site demo from global leaders of this major segment of construction industry. Workshop will be highly useful for Safety Managers / Project Managers of Infrastructure and Reality Construction firms, construction equipment manufacturers, suppliers and service providers etc.
