Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Gati Shakti Terminal Project by Ramco Cements in Andhra Pradesh. The project aims to enhance the transportation of crushed limestone using railway wagons and electric locomotives, offering an environment-friendly alternative. This initiative is expected to be a big step towards sustainable development in the region.
A new project is underway in Jayanthipuram, Jaggaiahpet Mandal, NTR district, where crushed limestone from the company’s Budawada mines will be transported to their integrated cement facility located in Jayanthipuram.
The railway wagons will carry the crushed limestones to a distance of 8.3 km, of which 4.9 km will be on the South Central Main Railway Line connecting Mellacheruvu to Jaggaiahpet stations, while 3.4 km would be on the dedicated sidings set up by Ramco Cements. This project is the first-of-its-kind in the cement sector.
