Raipur Municipal Corporation collaborates with Russian government

Cost of project is around Rs 500 cr

Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) and the Russian government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a Light Metro system. The agreement was formalised at the International Transport Meet in Moscow. Details about the project’s timeline or specific budget were not disclosed.

The Moscow Transport Minister and Mayor of Moscow have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Light Metro service from Raipur to Bhilai-Durg using Russian technology. A team of Russian specialists will visit Raipur to assess the project’s feasibility and provide recommendations on implementing electric city buses. They will also evaluate the city’s skywalk project for its suitability for the Metro.

The project, estimated to cost between Rs 400-500 crore, will be a collaborative venture between the RMC and the Russian government.
