Patel Engineering behind India’s Sela Pass tunnel project, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi

The project encompasses the construction of the main tunnel T1, spanning 1003.34 meters, and the main tunnel T2, extending 1594.38 meters, alongside an escape tunnel measuring 1584.38 meters, with a connecting road spanning approximately 8.7 km.

Patel Engineering has announced successful inauguration of the Sela Tunnel Project in Arunachal Pradesh, officiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This occasion represents a significant advancement in India’s strategic infrastructure development, bolstering all-weather connectivity and enabling swift troop movement in the region.

Constructed under Project VARTAK by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), the tunnel was executed by Patel Engineering, utilizing advanced engineering techniques to overcome environmental and geographical hurdles.

The project encompasses the construction of the main tunnel T1, spanning 1003.34 meters, and the main tunnel T2, extending 1594.38 meters, alongside an escape tunnel measuring 1584.38 meters, with a connecting road spanning approximately 8.7 km.

Patel Engineering was selected for this project on the basis of the extensive experience and past record. Nearly 5- skilled engineers and 800 workforce. 

Sela Tunnel is known as the world’s highest bi-lane road tunnel at an elevation exceeding 13,500 feet.
