Construction Week India Awards have two more eminent personalities— Kishore Avarsekar, CMD, Unity Infraprojects and Kumar Gera, chairman, Gera Developments— joining as jury members for the annual event to be held this September in Mumbai.
From being a civil engineer with the Public Works Department to chairman & managing director of Mumbai-based Unity Infraprojects, Avarsekar knows the industry in and out. He has over 35 years of experience and had worked with Hindustan Construction Company, Public Works Department and Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
A first generation entrepreneur, Avarsekar founded his small enterprise, Unity Construction Company, in 1982, before turning this into one of the fastest growing companies in India. Today, the company has a turnover of around Rs20,000 million and it aspires to become a billion-dollar firm within 3-5 years.
Kumar Gera, a stalwart of the profession, leads Gera Developments as its chairman. Forty years of hard work, perseverance and a commitment to real estate have allowed him to realize his vision of turning his family-run business into a brand name that is synonymous with professionalism, quality and respectability.
Kumar Gera is the founder President of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) and was instrumental in conceptualizing and creating CREDAI as a common platform for all real estate developers across India.
The Construction Week India Awards team feel privileged to have them onboard and join the elite jury panel, which already have eminent industry leaders such as Ajay Kumar Dhir, executive director and CIO of Lanco Infratech; Firdose Vandrevala, CMD, Hirco; R Vasudevan, MD, Vascon Engineers; Anuj Puri, chairman and country head of JLL; Sachin Sandhir, managing director, RICS South Asia; Dr Mangesh G Korgaonker, director general of NICMAR; Brotin Banerjee, MD and CEO of TATA Housing; Pradeep Singh, vice-chairman and managing director, IDFC Projects; S Paramsivan, deputy managing director, Afcons Infrastructure and Mahesh Mudda, general secretary of BAI and ED and CEO of New Consolidated Construction.
The jury members will meet on Aug 24 in Mumbai to judge the winners for the annual Construction Week India 2012.
The nomination process is on till Aug 17, 2012.
