A new study has found that the construction industry is the third most dangerous industry for employees in Canada.
Research by Preszler Injury Lawyers, using official figures from the AWCBC, analyzed which profession in Canada is statistically the most dangerous. Based on the latest data from 2022, the study revealed that the construction industry had 28,512 lost time claims in 12 months.
The health care and social assistance sector, along with manufacturing, also ranked among the top three most dangerous industries to work in, with 127,584 and 35,781 lost time claims respectively.

Retail trade, transportation and warehousing, and public administration also appeared within the top 10. With 23,986 lost claims, Retail trade is the fourth most dangerous industry for Canadians to work in according to the data.
Utilities, finance and insurance, and management of companies and enterprises were found to be the safest industries in Canada. Management of companies and enterprises saw just 4 lost time claims in 2022.

The number of lost time claims is high at 28,512. In first and third place are the Health care and social assistance, and Manufacturing industries, which also see a high number of claims each year.

This will not only benefit the employees in these industries, but it will also prevent further loss of revenue to the company where employees are off work through injury.
