Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), India’s steel and power major, has achieved highest ever annual production and dispatch at its nine million tonne per annum (mtpa) pelletisation complex at Barbil, Odisha. During FY 2018-19, JSPL produced 7.07 million tonne of pellets.
The plant surpassed its previous monthly production records by clocking 6,77,000 tonne during March 2019. The plant also achieved the highest ever monthly pellet dispatch of 6,61,786 tonnes in March 2019. The cumulative dispatch during the year 2018-19 was 7.17 million tonne.
“The pellet plant at Barbil has achieved its highest ever production and dispatch during this fiscal, similar to other JSPL facilities. The operational efficiency road-map we had embarked upon has enabled us to consistently achieve higher capacity utilisation levels at most of our units,” said NA Ansari, joint MD, JSPL. “The production and dispatch of pellets from JSPL Barbil plant have surpassed their previous records for the fourth consecutive year.”
JSPL’s pelletisation complex is the country’s largest single-location pellet manufacturing facility. Divided into a 4.5 mtpa dry grinding Unit and a 4.5 mtpa wet grinding unit, it has emerged as India’s largest pellet exporter over the last three years.
