How formwork is creating waves with innovation
Considering the benefits that formwork brings, it is certain that its demand will only continue to shoot upwards
The entry of several scaffolding and formwork multinationals into Indian market in the recent past, has revolutionised the way we used to construct few years ago. Few Indian manufacturers have also introduced innovative products and systems which are affordable and one stop solution provider for all construction related problems. But it is vital to select the appropriate and right formwork solutions and their service provider. These days, most of them are offering best of their services and cost effective scaffolding and formwork solutions.
In today’s competitive market, contractors and builders are facing tough competitions which necessitates most economic formwork and scaffolding solutions and also offer speed, safety of workers and most importantly quality to keep them a step ahead in business.

With the government laying special emphasis on construction and infrastructural development, opportunities abound in the Indian scaffolding and formwork (S&F) industry. Yet, there are some challenges like time and cost constraints. Moreover, the general paucity of trained professionals in this field is also a cause for concern. Nevertheless, with the demand rising in the wake of ongoing and future projects, S&F manufacturers are keeping pace with the construction industry.
Making it large
The reasons for growth are aplenty. Firstly, the speed and uncertainty with which projects are awarded these days, a contractor has no choice but to ensure a quick completion and move on to the next one. Secondly, S&F provides qualitative consistency in construction besides good surface finish, thereby saving a lot of finishing time and plastering material. Furthermore, the usage of conventional scaffolding material is diminishing as labour safety is gaining considerable importance in India. And finally, S&F solutions have a longer life and can be re-used at various sites, thus resulting in cost savings for the contractor.

ULMA has recently developed a new flex slab formwork system known as ONADEK. It is a formwork system made of galvanised steel members with high assembly performance and maximum flexibility designed for the residential & commercial building construction industry. “Ray says, “It’s capable of forming any type of slab with complex geometries where there are drop beams, columns or load-bearing walls. It is composed of lightweight, durable and easy to handle metal beams supported on drop heads. Drop heads enable early and safe recovery of the formwork members keeping intact slab supports in place. It helps achieve a fast working pace with less labour and material.”
