BFL, Alstom to build power plant equipment

Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL), a global leader in metal-forming, and Alstom, the global power systems manufacturer and service provider, have formed a joint venture to manufacture supercritical power plant equipment in India.

The joint venture will design, engineer, manufacture and deliver turbine and generator island of 600-800MW supercritical range with a total installed capacity of 5GW per annum.

The manufacturing infrastructure will include plants for manufacturing of turbine, generators and all the auxiliaries that go into turbine generator island.

The joint venture between Alstom and Bharat Forge involves setting up of two companies – the first company for manufacture of core turbine and generators and the other for all the auxiliaries.
