Ashok Leyland to go slow on production
Reeling under demand recession, Ashok Leyland has trimmed production by 59% in November 2008.
Last month, the company decided to cut back production by working three days a week at all the plants.
Total sales during April-November 2008 dropped to 41,336 vehicles against 49,658 in the same period last year.
However, the company stepped up exports to 519 in November 2008 from 421 in the previous month.
The company decided to moderate production for two months for commercial vehicles.
It had said earlier, “Medium & heavy duty commercial vehicles market has been facing problems of inadequate funding. As a result, market demand has come down.”
