Alstom-led consortium bags Rs563 cr metro deal

A consortium led by Alstom has signed a Rs563.4 crore contract with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) for the supply of a signalling system for the first two lines of the city’s new metro system. Both lines are expected to enter into revenue services in September 2012.
The contract includes design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of modern signaling/train control and telecommunication systems for two corridor lines (North-South (17.9 km /18 stations) and East-West (18.1 km /17 stations) of the city’s new Metro system including two depots and one operation control centre (OCC).The option to be exercised covers additional 5.7 km/6 stations and one back-up OCC.
