ACC to have third wind farm near Satara
The cement manufacturing firm, ACC has commissioned its third wind energy farm in Satara, Maharashtra which will satisfy the company’s major electricity requirements at two centres near Mumbai. Set up at a cost of Rs13 crore, the wind firm that comprises two turbines of 1.25 MW capacity each, would satisfy 70% of electricity requirement at ACC Thane Complex and 64% at Bulk Cement Corporation (India) Limited, Kalamboli near Mumbai.
The company said the Satara region enjoys sufficient wind speed for several months of the year and is thus a good location to setup a wind energy plant.
ACC now has a total wind power capacity of 19 MW—9 MW in Tamil Nadu, 7.5 MW in Rajasthan and 2.5 MW in Maharashtra.
