Global equipment firm Case New Holland (CNH Global) views positively opportunities in the burgeoning construction sector in India
Over the decade since it moved into the Indian market, Case India has evolved as one of the country’s largest diversified construction equipment companies, and is considered to be a prime mover in compaction equipment and backhoe loaders segment. Indeed, on an international level, Case was the first manufacturer to introduce backhoe loaders in 1957.
In 1999, Case had ventured into the Indian construction equipment in a joint venture with Larsen & Toubro. However, in March 2011, CNH Global acquired full ownership of Case India, converting it into a wholly owned subsidiary.
“The business outlook looks promising for us and we are confident about the rapid growth in the road sector,” said Steve Crowe, Head of Network Development and Communications of CNH International, CNH Global's arm operating in high growth markets.
“Whatever will be the negative impact caused by the worldwide economic turbulence, the Indian construction market will remain positive since infrastructure’s development is experiencing a sustained growth”.
“We see a huge growth potential in the Indian market. Our Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh produces state-of-the-art construction and road building equipment, such as backhoe loaders and vibratory compactors. We also have a production facility in Greater Noida called New Holland Fiat India, which manufactures agriculture machinery and is a global source for drive trains, engines and axles.
The full acquisition of the Pithampur operations represents an important step in our long-term commitment for consolidating our construction equipment business in India. By setting up a fully integrated manufacturing base, we are bringing in the country CNH’s global expertise and quality standards. Along with this, we are also strengthening our dealer network to better support local customers' needs” he said.
CNH is a global manufacturer of construction and agricultural equipment. In the construction equipment sector the Company offers a complete range of machinery in the heavy and light line, while the agricultural equipment business includes a wide range of tractors, harvesters, cotton pickers, hay and forage and other agricultural equipment.
Currently, Case India manufactures loader backhoe models, the Case 770 and Case 851. The vibratory compactor models include the Case 1107 soil compactor, Case 752 tandem compactor and the Case 450 tandem compactor.
